Krew Win Last
Game Over ASA - The Krew
finished up the regular season on Saturday with a 3-0 win over ASA Extreme Blue. The
Krew had another winning GYSA season going 6-3-2 with a current overall
record of 8-5-7. Statistically the boys scored 30 goals and gave up
14. We also had 5 shutouts out of 11 games. The Fall season will conclude with the Rome
Tournament in December. Congratulations to the boys and Coach
Jeff.
Krew
Top Crew 90 5-0 - The Krew had another
solid game beating the Carrolton Crew 90 by a score of 5-0. Chris and
Janio each tallied 2 goals and Chase added 1. Defensively the boys
earned their second shutout in a row with Caleb and Cade sharing time in
net.
Krew
beat Troup Titans 4-0 - It
looks like the boys put in a great team effort beating the Titans 4-0 on
Sunday. Coach Jeff was very happy with the team play. With 2
players missing and 1 injured, the boys had to step up their game.
Defensively the boys played solid getting the shutout. Josh scored 2
goals with Brooks and Ronald picking up one as well. Coach Allan says
congrats to the boys and wishes he could be there to watch them play!!!
CESA
Tournament Recap: The
Krew started out strong in game one vs Concorde South and took control
getting several shots in the first five minutes. We had plenty opportunities to score but could not get the ball past
the keeper.The team went a
little flat the last 10 minutes and in the 32nd minute Concorde
scored off a corner kick that was deflected but not cleared.A minute later, we woke up as Erni and Brooks did a give and go to
Caden who put it in back of the net, but was called offside. The half ended with the Krew trailing 1-nil.
In the 2nd the Krew were back to life and dominated the
rest of the game.In the 12th
minute of the half Ronald scored off a nice give n go to tie it up.Caden had a nice corner in the 15th minute, and Bryce had
a chance to finish, but couldn’t get it past the keeper.Chris had a nice free kick in the 29th minute, and Bryce
headed the finish, but it barely cleared the bar.Three minutes later Matt Green passed to Bryce who had a nice one on
one chance, but was stopped by the keeper again. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.Overall
the Krew dominated the game but didn’t play well enough to put it away.
In the second game the Krew played CESA and took control of the game
from the start.A hand ball in
the penalty area in the 4th minute resulted in a PK and Bryce put
it home for a 1-0 lead.Defensively
the boys played well limiting the scoring chances for CESA. Caleb had a
strong game in goal.Although
the boys had many scoring chances and numerous free/corner kicks the score
remained 1-0 at half.In the 1st
minute of the 2nd half, a corner by CESA was brought back by Erni,
who fed to Jamie on the 18 who passed to Josh.Josh turned it and scored. We
had to more great chances in the next 2 minutes but couldn’t get them in
net.In the 30th
minute, it was Chris to Jamie to Josh again resulting in the final 3-0
score.We had several more
chances but the score remained 3-0.
In
game three the Krew went up against Mt. Pleasant ’90 which was a U18 team.
This team was obviously at a higher level than either of our first two
opponents, but we met the challenge. They
were well coached, and their use of the field was superb. They kept formation and always looked for the open space.Mt.
Pleasant
started fast and controlled for the first few minutes. In
the 3rd minute they came down the left side, Caleb came out, and
the player crossed to center and they buried it behind him for a 1-0 lead. However, we took it right back down our side on the right, Ronald
centered to Jordan, who shot from the six, but it was deflected by a
defender.In the 15th
minutes Brooks sent a long pass to Josh who broke free, waited for the
keeper to commit, then popped a blooper through to tie the game. The rest of the half was uneventful, although we had momentum, and
clearly had Mt.
Pleasant
off their game and frustrated.The
Mt.
Pleasant coach had them run sprints at half time to try to make them focus. In the second half , Mt. Pleasant came out stronger, and in the 12th
minute of the half, MP worked the ball through center, shot through three
men from about the 12.It was
powerful shot and it slipped through for the 2nd MP goal. They were back in rhythm, but we got more aggressive. Both teams were more physical, and another Yellow was issued to one
of their players in the 15th minute for trash talking. A
foul outside the penalty area in the 25th minute gave a MP player
a second yellow so they played a man down for the rest of the game. Two minutes later, MP got a corner which we cleared, but the guys
stayed back near the goal.
Mt.
Pleasant picked up the ball and brought it back for a quick goal giving Mt.
Pleasant a 3-1 lead and final score. (Thanks to Bob Sabin for providing the
Recap).
From Coach Allan: The time has flown by and it is now time
to be a Marine! I am really going to miss soccer and coaching
the boys. It's an honor to get to work with these fine young
men and I have enjoyed watching them grow and mature. I will
miss watching them on the pitch and I hope to get to watch some
videos of the games. That way I can yell at the boys through
email!!!!! I hope to get back in time to watch some of them in
high school ball. I want to wish Coach Jeff, the Krew
and the wonderful parents the best of luck and success this
Fall! I want to leave the boys with my 2 favorite
quotes: "Be Brilliant in the Basics" and "You always miss 100%
of the shots you never take". Semper
Fi.
Atlanta
Cup Tournament
The boys
had a rough ending in the Atlanta Cup losing a close 1-0 game
on a fluke goal and just missing advancing to the
semi-finals. In the first game the boys started a little
sluggish but improved throughout the match coming away with a
1-0 victory over the GFC Premier team. Jordan picked up
the only goal early in the first half off a nice assist from
Brooks. In the 2nd game the boys played a tough GSA
Phoenix White team who had won the NASA Classic tournament the
week before. The game was a hard fought match and the
boys played with a lot of heart in the second half but the
match ended in a 0-0 darw. In the 3rd game of pool play
the Krew needed a tie or win to advance to the semi-finals
against the SMSC Warriors from Tennessee. The boys were
playing on their heels in the first half and 16 minutes into
the game the defense attempted to clear a ball out of the 18
and it bounced off a SMSC player and bounced back just under
the cross bar to go up 1-0. We changed to a 4-3-3
formation in the 2nd half to try and generate more offense and
the boys picked up their play getting many quality scoring
chances but we were unable to punch one in. Besides
losing the game we lost Jordan to a sprained ankle which will
sideline him a few weeks. SMSC went on to win the
Atlanta Cup championship. Overall the boys are
still trying to find that consistency that made them a force
last year. They are getting close! The coaches
will be putting the boys under more high pressure situations
and I am confident that the boys will improve and get stronger
has the regular season starts!
NASA
Classic Tournament
The Krew
displayed some great soccer this weekend coming away with 3
ties against some strong competition. They improved
their play with each game and left everything on the field by
game 3. In the first game it took the boys a while to
get going. We were not playing to our potential and
early in the second half we went down 1-nil. Slowly the
boys started getting into a groove and with a few minutes
remaining, Bryce took a long punt from Caden and punched in
the goal to give us a 1-1 tie vs. the CGSA Strikers. In
the second game the boys were pumped to play Cobb FC.
They really picked up their game and had many good
opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net.
Defensively the boys did not give Cobb many good scoring
chances and Caleb really controlled the box. They played
hard even though the heat was taking it's toll with many
players (from both sides) getting cramps. They proved
they could play at a higher level and we should have had a
great opportunity late in the game but were denied. The
game ended with a 0-0 tie. On Sunday the boys played
their best game of the weekend. It was a hard fought and
very physical match against the Birmingham United Select
91's. Our boys came out ready to play and really put a
lot of pressure on BUSA early. Within the first minute,
Caden headed a ball in front that Josh and the BUSA Keeper
went for but it scooted out to the left side and Brooks tapped
it in for a 1-0 lead. Just inside the 15 minute mark the
Krew struck again when Josh took a shot and picked up his own
rebound off the keeper putting it in the back of the net for a
2-0 lead. The game was back and forth and with
just a few minutes remaining in the half, BUSA took a shot
from just outside the 18 that deflected off a Krew player into
the goal. Coming into the 2nd half the game continued to
get very physical. The game went back & forth with
both sides getting opportunities to score. Late in the
half the Krew had a little trouble clearing the ball after a
corner kick and a BUSA player picked the ball off at the top
of the 18 and sent a shot that again deflected off a player
and just out of the reach of Caleb to tie the score 2-2.
The Krew had one good chance late off a corner but the game
ended with a hard fought tie. This was a successful
weekend for the boys. The coaches were very pleased with
the effort. It would have been nice to get a few W's but
they came out with no losses and improved with each
game. Now it's time to look forward to the Atlanta Cup
and to keep improving our game prior to the start of the
regular season.

KREW
CROWNED RUNNER'S UP AT CFC RED STAR CHALLENGE - END AN AMAZING
SEASON - The boys put
in an amazing effort this Fall reaching 25 games without a loss
before coming up 1 goal short of a perfect season. After
coming out with 2 easy wins on the first day of the tournament the
Krew met their biggest challenge of the season playing the talented
Classic II CFC Red Star 16's on Sunday morning. In the first
half the boys had their hands full as CFC did a great job of
possessing the ball and dictating most of the play.
Defensively we bent a little but did not give the Red Star team many
quality chances. Toward the end of the half Coach Jeff made a
great change and moved Bryce up top. After a few chances Fitz
played a ball up and Bryce beat the keeper to the far post and
taking a 1-0 lead into half-time.
KREW
WINS CLASSIC IV WEST DIVISION - REMAIN
UNBEATEN - The Krew
finished the Fall GYSA Classic IV season as the West Division
Champions with a 9-0-1 record. The boys also extended their
games without a loss to 22 with an 17-0-5 record. On Veterans Day
the Krew played the Forsyth Fusion coming away with a 5-1
victory. The Krew scored 2 quick goals in the first 4 1/2
minutes with Erni and Johan picking up the tallies. Although
the boys continued to pressure the Fusion they went into halftime
holding on to the 2-0 lead. In the second half the boys really
picked up their play and Jordan, Matt H and Chris each put a shot in
to build up a 5-0 lead. The Fusion scored late off a free
kick. Brooks also had a big game with 3 assists.
Congratulations to the boys for an outstanding and exciting
season. There will be practice on Monday and the awards
ceremony on Wednesday night.
9
Players Score in 10-0 Victory - The Krew put in a great team effort with 9 different
players picking goals in a 10-0 victory over the Troup Titans.
Sam tallied his first goal of the season and we were able to move
players around and spread the wealth. Caleb and Cade combined
for another shutout in goal with each also picking up goals playing
the field. The Krew improved to 21 games without a loss.
A great
accomplishment
KREW REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN FALL SEASON -
The Krew had a tough match against the Alpharetta Ambush but came
out on top as Josh scored a second half goal. Although the
Krew had many opportunities to put the game away, the Ambush Keeper
kept the game close. The Krew defense again made Caleb's job
pretty easy in goal with another shutout in a 1-0 victory. The Krew
has improved it's Fall league record to 7-0-1 and remain on top of
the standings. They also improved their overall Fall record to
15-0-5. Great job boys!
Krew
Beat NASA 6-0, Remain Unbeaten - The Krew put in an impressive show beating the NASA Black
squad 6-0 and staying unbeaten in the Fall season. The Krew
started quick with a goal in the 3rd minute when Josh put in a far
post shot with Chris Erni picking up the assist. Josh scored
again at the 16 minute mark to give us a 2-0 lead. At the 21
minute mark Chris E played a nice ball up to Sam. Johan took
the ball off Sam's feet to drive in the 3rd goal and the Krew took a
3-0 lead into half-time. Josh picked up the hat trick early in
the 2nd half when he finished a corner kick from Fitz. With 10
minutes left to play Bryce put in a header off Chris E's corner to
give us the 5-0 lead. Chase finished the scoring late when
Bryce played a nice ball out the right that Chase put in to the near
post. Cade played a good game in goal getting a shutout.
The boys played solid
Krew
Improve Regular Season Record to 2-0! The Krew improved their regular season record
to 2-0 and sit on top of the standings after beating the Triumph
White 3-0 on Saturday. The Krew dominated the game early
scoring 3 goals in the first 18 minutes. Jordan picked up a
quick goal to start the scoring in the first 30 seconds of the
match. The Krew put a lot of pressure on Triumph and in the
11th minute Erni passed out to Kebe who drove in a nice left footed
shot to put us up 2-0. At the 18 minute mark, Crazy Chris made
one of his famous speedy runs up the left side and drove in a
beautiful upper corner shot to put in the last goal at 3-0.
The Krew finished the half strong recording 20 shots on the opponent
and allowing none. In the second half the boys came out a
little flat although they were still able to get a lot of shots on
goal. Triumph picked up their game and came close to a score
but Chase made a great sliding kick to clear a sure goal and
preserve the shutout. Offensively the Krew took an
amazing 38 shots
Krew Win
First Regular Season Game! - The Krew won their first game of the Fall 2006 regular
season beating the AFU Silver 4-1 on Sunday. The Krew struck
first in the 4th minute when the Krew were given a free kick from 40
yds out. Bryce hit a nice cross to Fitz who passed out to
Brooks on the left flank and drove in the goal. The Silver
team answered right back and scored off a 30 yd driving shot to tie
it up. Due to great Krew defensive work, It would turn out to
be their only quality shot on goal for the day. At the 20
minute mark Fitz picked up a goal off another assist from
Bryce. The game was 2-1 at half but the Krew came out strong
in the 2nd scoring at the 49 minute with Bryce picking up the
goal. The final goal came at the 73 minute when Caleb sent a
booming punt up to Josh who made a great run and slide it past the
keeper to the far post.
Saturday Game to be Rescheduled -
Our game this Saturday has to be rescheduled. Our Sunday game
is still on with Atlanta Fire United Silver at Scott Hudgens Park
#5. The game starts at 3:00pm.
Krew Win Third Straight Tournament
- The Krew won their third tournament of the Fall 2006
season bringing home the Music City Labor Day Tournament
Championship. With some nice cool overcast Nashville weather
the boys had to fight hard in the Championship match vs. HSC
Hurricanes. Both teams played tough and the score was tied 2-2
at the end of regulation and sending the match into overtime.
7 minutes into the second overtime period the Krew were able to play
a great through ball which Bryce punched in for the victory.
The Krew improved their unbeaten streak to 8-0-4 and have collected
some nice hardware along the way. Now it is time for the
regular season to begin!
The Krew website is back
online. I will update the site with more photos and news as
the season progresses. The schedule is now posted. Let's
keep the momentum going!
